Galle city is named as an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Galle has its own history written by the Arabs, Portuguese, Dutch and British. Galle was a key trading post in Indian ocean for thousands of years.
With the fort and trendy boutiques, ayurvedic spa, restaurants, hotels, museums and coffee shops, Galle is an amazing place to be. Galle Fort is an excellent place to shop. All the shops are within walking distance and they have very classy and trendy items such as wood carvings, monuments, clothes, jewelry and gems. Street stalls to 5-star dining places are available within the fort.

With the sea on three sides, a walk along the Fort ramparts will be a wonderful experience. You will see the clock tower, lighthouse and ruins of cannons along the ramparts. You would love to see the sun set from here in the evening.
